Rev. Mike Gatliff, Pulpit Supply

Mike met Jesus in 1972 as a high school senior during the Jesus Movement. A call to ministry came soon thereafter, leading to 5 years at Florida State University, 2 years at Princeton Seminary and a Master of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Seminary. He worked in youth ministry for 15 years in both Young Life and church ministries, then 15 years in adult ministries, and now for the last 10 years as a nursing home chaplain. Mike was ordained in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in 1997, and currently leads Memphis Chaplaincy, a ministry planting churches in under-served nursing homes. Jacky and Mike have been married for 38 years, and have 2 children and four grandgirls.

 

 

Dee Dee Brinkman, Church Administrator

DeeDee grew up in Memphis and studied at Crichton College. She is passionate about Women’s Ministries, including the Extraordinary Women’s Conference and Women of Faith. DeeDee loves spending time outdoors, reading, painting, laughing with family and friends, and relaxing at the beach. She and her husband have two boys.

 

Bettye Sue Johnston, Music Ministry

Bettye Sue grew up in Memphis, graduated from Rhodes College with a B.A. in music education in 1981, and received a Master’s in education from the University of Memphis in 1993. She is a retired English teacher and school librarian. Bettye Sue loves reading, playing trivia, spending time with her family, and going to Memphis Grizzlies games.

Julie Fike, Recreation Assistant

As a part-time Recreation Assistant, Julie helps organize, schedule and implement the recreation programs at Woodland Presbyterian. Prior to Woodland, Julie spent 23 years working in church recreation, first at Colonial Park UMC and then at Church of the Holy Communion. Julie grew up in Memphis, graduated from White Station High School and then went on to earn a B.B.A  from Memphis State University. Julie and her husband, Clete, have two children and two grandchildren.  She enjoys running, staying active and spending time with family and friends.

 

Lydia Haworth, Nursery

Lydia is a senior at The University of Memphis studying Business Management and Entrepreneurship.  She started working with kids as a teenager at her home church and has been in love with the ministry ever since! She enjoys spending time with family and friends and her dog Desi. Lydia is honored to be with our kids on Sunday mornings and has become part of the Woodland family.

Brian Heverly, Youth Ministry

Brian was born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and grew up in Annapolis, Maryland. He first attended Towson University and graduated from Lee University where our students have attended The Great Escape summer retreat for years. He enjoys reading, playing video games, working out, and watching movies. One of his secret talents is baking cakes.

Russell Jung, M. Div., Family & Recreation Ministry

Russell grew up in California and graduated from California State University, Chico with a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology. After moving to Memphis in 1994, he married Jennifer and they have four children. Russell completed the Masters of Divinity at Covenant Theological Seminary in 2008. He is a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Memphis Grizzlies and Tigers, Denver Broncos, and enjoys watching SEC football, mountain biking, coaching his children in sports, playing volleyball, reading, grilling burgers, and going for walks on the beach with his wife.

 

Kathryn Miskell, Communications

Kathryn was raised in Memphis and graduated from The University of Memphis is 1992 with a degree in Fine Arts. She has worked in design & advertising and began working at Woodland in 2000. Kathryn and her husband have two grown boys. She is involved in Women’s Ministry and Children’s Ministry at Woodland and is active in the community.
